EBA CLEARING, SWIFT and The Clearing House join forces to speed up and enhance cross-border payments
Banks from both sides of the Atlantic have successfully exchanged payment messages for a faster cross-border payment as part of a proof of concept demonstrating the feasibility of synchronizing settlement across existing instant payment systems in one of the world’s largest currency corridors.
EBA CLEARING and IBERPAY launch interoperable SEPA Request-to-Pay services
EBA CLEARING and IBERPAY announced today that they have delivered two interoperable services to process messages and provide functionalities complying with the new SEPA Request-to-Pay Scheme (SRTP) created by the European Payments Council (EPC). The joint launch of these new infrastructure services took place today, on the day of the entry into force of the new SEPA scheme.
RT1 reaches critical mass of Belgian PSPs for instant payments
EBA CLEARING announced today that its RT1 platform has reached critical mass in Belgium for instant payments. The leading pan-European instant payment infrastructure system currently counts six participants based in Belgium: Aion SA, BNP Paribas Fortis, Belfius, CBC Banque, ING Belgium and KBC Bank. Thanks to this coverage, the vast majority of Belgian payment accounts are now reachable for euro instant payments from all across Europe.
New volume records for EBA CLEARING Services in 2020
In 2020, EBA CLEARING processed a total of 15.5 billion transactions across its payment services, which is 1.3 billion more than in 2019. December 2020 saw an all-time record of transactions processed across all services of almost 1.5 billion.
EBA CLEARING announced today that its RT1 platform has considerably expanded its reach in Luxembourg. Five new joiners connected to RT1 today, including two participants from Luxembourg: Banque et Caisse d’Epargne de l’Etat, Luxembourg and Banque Internationale à Luxembourg.
Timely start of test phase for pan-European request to pay infrastructure service
EBA CLEARING today announced the timely start of the testing phase for its pan-European request to pay infrastructure (R2P) service, which is scheduled to go live in November 2020 in line with the launch of the SEPA Request to Pay Scheme by the European Payments Council (EPC).
New all-time daily average records for STEP2 SCT, RT1 and SCC in December 2018
STEP2 SCT and STEP2 Card Clearing both saw new all-time daily average volume records with 21.1 million and 11 million payment transactions processed respectively. RT1 also reached a new daily average volume in December 2018 with 88 thousand transactions processed.

Timely testing phase kick-off for EBA CLEARING’s pan-European instant payment system
The financial institutions from across SEPA that fund the delivery of this infrastructure project witnessed the functioning of the new system in the test environment today during the kick-off meeting for the testing phase in Milan. The implementation of EBA CLEARING’s pan-European instant payment infrastructure platform is fully on track for its go-live in November 2017, on the launch date of the SCT Inst Scheme of the European Payments Council.
EBA CLEARING’s STEP2 SEPA Services saw a new all-time volume peak on 2 January 2017: more than 141 million transactions were settled on that day. On the same day, STEP2 SDD Core also reached a new individual peak record with a total of 105 million SEPA Core Direct Debits settled. December 2016 marked a record month for the EBA CLEARING’s SEDA Service, which processed more than 11.6 million transactions in total during that period.
